Project Description

CORCL is a boat with a round shape, petite size and patented sidewall and hull design features which gives children the ability to move easily forward, backward, or in circles through the water with a paddle. Recyclable, low-maintenance plastic and the double-hull structure were chosen for durability, stability, and buoyancy. The boat is light enough for simple transport but strong enough to withstand impact and dragging. The convex sides allow for lateral motion with a constant return to horizontal while also dampening a flipping motion to be gradual and predictable. The sunken deck and flat bottom outer hull allow the user to sit, kneel, stand, recline or use the boat upside down. The custom-designed drain plugs open with a coin to prevent accidental removal while the CORCL is in use. Interior sidewall cutouts create room for the knees and toes of a seated user. Bold, permanent, semi-hidden graphics are included so if the foam pad wears off over time, the boat still looks fresh and intentional. The outer hull’s ringed depression serves both to make the boat more stable in water and for stacking during shipping and storage. The included, customized tether rope has a Velcro attachment which can act as a simple paddle leash or can connect boats, increasing their functionality, by then allowing for over 49 games and races. In the design of the CORCL children’s boat, functional details, tailored precisely to the target group of 7-15 year olds, merge with a sophisticated handling concept to create the perfect water toy.
