Safe, Child-Centric Engineering
The safety of the customers is of paramount importance to Yvolution. With the team's extensive knowledge in wheeled toys, they always aim to approach the design of our products to resolve the shortcomings they have identified in their competitor's products. A challenge to create the most safe and fun experience for children while giving peace of mind to parents.
- Uninterrupted, flowing soft surfaces with seamless transitions between parts;
- Hidden hardware (no exposed nuts/bolts for kids to catch their feet/fingers on);
- Age-appropriate ergonomics (kid-size hand grips (21mm diameter);
- An extra-wide foot deck to accommodate side by side foot placement – an important safety feature to allow kids to swap their leading leg when scooting whilst providing a more stable platform when steering into their weak side;
- Extra-wide wheels for balance development;
- Extra-wide brake is much more intuitive when needing to brake; the child can locate the brake without having to look behind them;
- Spokeless wheel cores prevent finger entrapment;
- The arc-folding handlebar maintains a uniform tolerance about its folding axis, eliminating any potential finger entrapment points to the user.
Industrial Design
Completely unique visual design language. The result of a ground up redesign of the 3-wheel scooter platform. Form follows function: Engineering a safe product was the basis for Yvolution's design journey, resulting in a very streamlined form.
Anthropomorphism and a personality for the Glider Nua is achieved through the mounting of the faceplate onto the Lean-To-Steer axle, resulting in the "face" of the Nua turning with the product in the direction of travel.
The handlebar slot, while providing an opportunity for weight savings and improved injection flow, serves a second and more important purpose. The slot engages with a wall-mountable storage accessory included with the product - convenient for the parent to allow for easy storage of the product up and out of the way. Additionally, the storage accessory provides retailers with a new method of displaying products in-store.
The entire support rib structure is hidden from view from all angles. Whether viewed from above or below, the engineering of the product is hidden behind a clean, flowing form.
Sustainability
The goal is for the customers to trust the robustness, longevity, and quality of the design. The combination of weather-resistant and impact-resistant, hard-wearing materials and height adjustability create a platform, which is suitable for kids from 3-10 years old and which can be passed from one sibling to the next. Design For Assembly also benefits the customer – Glider Nua features easily replaceable components such as wheels and footplate. This results in a toy that can stand both the test of time and not end up in a landfill.
