Optima Lakeview is a seven-story, 198-unit apartment building on Broadway in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Recessed terraces and setbacks culminating in a green, rooftop deck, break up the building’s mass. Retail occupying the ground floor fits in with Broadway’s commercial character.
The site is irregularly shaped with a steeply angled façade along Broadway that resulted in an exceptionally deep floor plan. In response, the architects carved out an atrium at the center that is illuminated by a grand 90’ X 30’ skylight and encircled by single-loaded corridors that are terraced as the building ascends.
Amenities like a full-court for basketball, exercise facilities, seating areas for work or relaxing and the rooftop deck invite interaction and support a sense of community.
