Landscape Forms introduces Upfit, an adaptive structure with a modern style and endless flexibility to create outdoor environments where people live, learn, work, care, play, and travel. “With the introduction of Upfit, Landscape Forms is expanding our portfolio with a new product category,” says President Richard Heriford. “We’re excited about Upfit and what it offers landscape architects. We’re also excited to have collaborated with StruXure Outdoor for their expertise in outdoor structures, as well as with KEM Studio for their architectural design expertise. Our goal is to be the industry leader in outdoor furniture, lighting, and structure.” Upfit transforms underutilized spaces on corporate, academic, and healthcare campuses and within public and transit areas into sought-out destinations.
“In-between spaces are overlooked and undervalued but hold such potential,” says Vice President of Design and Marketing Kirt Martin. “Upfit gives landscape architects tools for helping to look at these spaces with fresh eyes and create places with purpose and value at a lower cost than indoor real estate. Upfit can become an outdoor classroom, corporate meeting space, contemplation space, or social gathering hub.”
The tools to design a structure with the amenities, comfort, and function a project requires include a simple post-and-beam structure, a louvered roof with weather management capabilities, power, and lighting options. The structure can be specified in seven powdercoat colors to create a look that suits the project and site. Panels divide space, create boundary, and provide functionality. Louvered panels angle to shade interiors; slatted panels provide semi-private outer and interior division; glass panels in several colors also act as markerboards; and green panels with wire screens create plant walls on the exterior and interior. Attaching peninsula and inline tables support individual and group activities. An attaching bike rack is also available. Third-party accessories such as fans, lights, and flat-screen monitors can be added to powered structures. Upfit’s louvered roof system can be operated manually or with a motorized system delivered using a switch, remote control, or smart device app.
Upfit can be embedded, surface-mounted, and connected to buildings at the ground or rooftop. It is structurally engineered to be compatible with a site and includes project management and installation services. Upfit is scalable, giving landscape architects the ability to create a simple single unit or a fully powered, lit, and furnished multi-unit structure. Landscape Forms’ offering of site furniture can further outfit the Upfit structure to its purpose.
“As humans, we are drawn to the outdoors. Upfit transforms unused outdoor spaces into the kind of relevant, purposeful, and enjoyable places we are drawn to,” says Martin.
