We’re 80 years on from the coffee revolution that began when Italian barista Achille Gaggia invented an extraction process that enabled espresso coffee to be brewed with the ‘crema’ we enjoy today. To celebrate the occasion, Gaggia Milano is launching a brand-new Italian-style espresso machine for the professional market, which has been designed by the Bonetto Design Center based in Milan. We’ve called the machine La Reale and it’s a blend of tradition and innovation that’s ideally equipped to perpetuate Gaggia Milano’s iconic standing in the world’s finest cafés.
This traditionally styled, top-of-the-range model is entirely shaped by light – not only the light that creates copper and steel reflections on its body, but also the suffused light of its LED profiles and its subtle, but suggestive, backlights. The design delivers a shimmering effect, giving the machine its unique character as well as its scenographic impact: it’s virtually a mechanical sculpture.
La Reale is available in two versions, copper/white and copper/grey. Designer Marco Bonetto set out, in this machine, to reflect the style that has become his trademark in the field of automotive design. His goal was to enhance the reliability of La Reale’s parts and materials, and to ensure its ability to withstand the chaotic working pace of the busy barista.
The sophisticated design recalls the classic machines of the 50’s era, but don’t be fooled: La Reale is brimming with cutting-edge technology. Gaggia Milano believes that users shouldn’t have to choose between style and substance; that’s why, in La Reale, both come as standard.
For example, La Reale features a 3.5-inch touchscreen for each brew group, where the brewing parameters are 100% customisable, via an intuitive a 3 button interface that allows the barista to make quick and intuitive selections, to meet every conceivable consumer preference. In other words, when one considers the many demands of today’s sophisticated coffee culture, La Reale ticks every box.
