CYNARA Chair | 2020-2021

Project Description

CYNARA fulfills the functions required for task seating and boasts overwhelming lightness. Through weight reduction, CO2 emissions are also reduced.
Weight reduction throughout the manufacturing process is linked to energy reduction and reduces environmental impact. Stretching the mesh over the frame reduces weight and achieves strength. It has a simple minimalist reclining mechanism with the appropriate reaction force.

When reclining naturally follows the body. The uniform color scheme throughout the chair makes it ideal for ABW (Activity-Based Working). To achieve weight reduction, the designers made wide-ranging changes to the design concepts behind conventional task seating. CYNARA achieves both comfort and a reclining shape without losing any of the chair’s functionality.

The one-piece seat and backrest ensure strength and removes any excess parts. The design theme was the curve of the Japanese bow “YUMI.” The Japanese bow is stylish, and the minimalist geometry is extremely strong and generates great power.

A minimalist simple construction provides suppleness, strength, lightness, and elasticity which is utilized when reclining. Weight reduction has merit when moving the chair. Intuitive operations for seat height adjustment and fixing recline angles have been kept to a minimum. The appropriate setting of the reclining reaction force provides a simple mechanism that retains all adjustment functions.
